Water Cay, Jumentos continued............

Just wanted to add some more pics of our fun time in the Jumentos............

George Town to Water Cay,Jumentos

Monday March 15th

Ric and Rose arrived Monday evening in George Town... Dwayne picked them up by dinghy over at Exuma Market just at Sunset... Once all settled in on SeaVeyor we had our Sundowners and a wonderful grilled lobster meal... Captain Dwayne had us all up early on Tuesday morning to get ready to pull up anchor and head towards Water Cay, Jumentos... We had to leave early enough to make Hog Cay Cut at high tide.... GodSpeed ,Liberty, and Double Wide left out at daybreak because they travel a little slower.... Once SeaVeyor made it thru the cut, we quickly passed the others ( only because Captain D thought the motors needed to be , uh, revved up ! HA!! Made some good pics of the others as we passed, even though we were going 18knots to their 6 or 7!!!We made it to Water Cay in the Jumentos around 2:30 or so and dropped anchor first.. My Captain loves to leave last and arrive first!!!!!!!!!! Non Linear and Our Freedom also came up from Long Island to meet us...and Liberty and Double Wide kept sailing further South... The water was beautiful and the boys put in the dinghy and proceeded to hunt for bugs and grouper....They were able to come up with enough for supper for all....all boats came over to the SeaVeyor for Sundowners and we met NonLinear and Our Freedom's crews... Wonderful, fun-loving people and we all had a great evening...

The next morning the boys went on a recon mission to check out the Ocean Hole (blue hole) that was just around the reef. All decided to make the SeaVeyor the mother ship and off we went to anchor just at the edge of it.. It was amazing to see it with the difference of water colors, etc... Not sure exactly how deep it was , but it went from 12ft to 104ft pretty quickly... Tom caught the first bait fish, then Ric proceeded to catch about a dozen or more good size bait fish, that were used for the BIGGER ONES (grouper, etc ) lurking in the deeper water... Pat caught a good size grouper, several other big ones were lost and then the BIG one hit!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dwayne had quite the fight with a Bull Shark ..Everyone pulled in lines and it was on.... After a joint effort and good fight by Dwayne, Mr. Shark lost... That was enough for one day , so the SeaVeyor went back to our original anchorage with the other sailboats.... We all got back together again for shark on the grill... wonderful meal...

The next morning we had to part ways, but not before Cowboy Pat brought over some cowboy biscuits and gravy for breakfast . GodSpeed, Our Freedom and Non Linear headed South for Flamingo Cay, Jumentos, while we headed back North to Long Island. We left around 9am and arrived about 3pm in Long Island... Have had a great time here too.. Took the dinghy over to Long Island Breeze Resort and had a great meal there.... Today, we are hanging out here at Long Island Breeze at thier pool and I am using their internet to get the blog site updated... We plan to rent a car again tomorrow and see the Island. We have seen the southern end, but not the northern end... hopefully, we can see the whole island this time and take Ric and Rose to Dean's Blue Hole and Max's Conch bar... Ric and Rose fly out Wednesday am and we will travel back North to George Town to re-provision, etc.. and then head North ourselves....

It continues to be fun, be hardwork, be a learning process and I never take anything or any of this for granted... We are truly blessed to be able to see and do the things we are doing..... More news at 11................. Linda and Dwayne

George Town Regatta

Hey guys, today is the last day of the 30th annual George Town Regatta. It's a week of all sorts of activities, contests, and races.. The main race is around Stocking Island. Stocking Island is just across the harbor from George Town... They had the pet parade, the notalent talent show, the golf tournament (on the beach) a trivial pursuit contest, fun races, volleyball tournament, sand castle building, art show, and tonite is the last activity, the Variety Show... We met cruisers on God Speed and Paragon who were participating in the Stocking Island race. I hiked up to the Monument to get some fun pics and made some of them upon their return. In the pic you will see their black stockings (Stocking Island????) During the actual race they had sub contests also, who could catch a fish while racing, who could make the best dessert while racing, a photo contest ( you had to be on board the boat) Anyway, a fun time was had by all......

After the weekly ARG meeting, Nimue,Paragon and GodSpeed came over to the SeaVeyor for further research (ARG stands for Alcohol Research Group!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Fun time again had by all.... Bob on Paragon presented Dwayne with a gift ...a Obama T-Shirt ..hmmm, I won't go into how that went over... but, being the good sport that he is , he accepted it .. and then made Pat from God Speed put it on ( Pat being the one that put Bob up to this) Pat and Lorrie are from the Republican state of Wyoming!!!!!!!!!!! Ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our friends Ric and Rose from TopSail are due in Monday evening... so will pick them up, show them GT and then on to exploring northward...... can't wait... George Town has been fun, getting to know the cruisers and the locals too.... More news at 11....Linda and Dwayne

GT,Pet Parade,Palm Bay Beach Club

Hi to all, seems like the days just flow together here... but, not wearing a watch, I'm getting pretty good about telling the time just by looking at the sun. Last two "blows" were not too bad. The Red Shanks area is good for almost all wind direction... they also have a little beach area that the cruisers get together on (and pets) for afternoon Happy Hour.. Everyone brings goodies and you meet new people each time! We are now back in front of the Palm Bay Beach Club area.. it has good wifi access and not too far from the market, etc by dinghy... the Monument is across the channel from us. Still so much to see here... Before moving over to the Shanks, we attended the Chris Parker Weather Seminar that was held in the community center in GT..Chris is the Bahamas "guru" for weather..it was fun and informative and had a cookout of burgers and dogs during the lunch break..

The George Town Cruisers Pet Parade was Monday and I helped a little with it, getting the pets lined up and in the right place to make their entrance... What a hoot..... Ami on Southern Estates dressed up as a chicken and paraded his pet "cluckers" along with the puppies!!! That was in the afternoon and the "No Talent" talent show was next and then their rock and roll dance nite followed... These guys know how to have fun!! Monday, March 1st, was the beginning of the 30th annual GeorgeTown Cruisers Regatta ... They have events almost every day ... this morning was the Coconut Challenge.. crazy people in dinghys, racing to get as many coconuts out of the water to their base.... (something you would see on "Survivor" ) The main race is next week... It is a race around Stocking Island... Anyway, fun is had by all.
