Black Cay (cont.)

Few more pics of the fun....

George Town to Black Cay

Hi to all, first of all, internet access has been downright crummy,if not impossible... so , if I get this posted... praise be! We left out of Georgetown on Tuesday Jan 19 for a short trip up to Black Cay, along with two other cruisers we met... both of whom had sailboats... We made it to Black Cay and rafted up together. We all stayed until Saturday... What fun... found a few lobsters, few grouper, and some snapper and one conch... All I can say is we ate very well!!

We are planning on heading South next week and eventually make it to the Turks and Caicos.. Some of the cruisers we have met are going in the same direction, so it should be fun..... Always remember if you guys don't hear from us, we are off on an adventure with no communication...but we are fine... my Captain takes good care of us...Along the way South, we hope to hit Long Cay, Rum Cay, maybe Conception and all other little Cays along the way...we have no particular agenda or time frame, just want to see as much as possible while we are down here....

Dwayne found a 19ft. racing kayak and it is now on board the SeaVeyor!! Hmmm, me thinks that we are going to get wet !!!!!!!!!!!!! Have not made a pic of it yet..... but will soon...

We really have been having a good time.... meeting so many nice and friendly cruisers...

Of note, for those of you that have our cell number (Bahamian phone that we purchased) it is much less expensive for you to call us than us to call you... and after 6pm......

Cats are still alive and well and getting used to living on a boat..... they normaly do their walk abouts after dark... that's when they like to walk up on the bow...

Just cause we don't answer emails right away, doesn't mean we don't enjoy getting them... it all depends on access... The pics I sent were made at Black Cay.. and the Gaurd Dog, gaurding the "bugs" is Samson... He belongs to Mark and Leisel on the Cool Breeze II...The other friends in the pics are Chris and Ron on Nimue.... Wonderful people!! Ok, got to run.... hope to add a few more pics next time...
Take care and we miss you all... Linda and Dwayne... Patches, Black Cat and Monkey Butt!!

Monument Hill George Town January 2010

Good Morning to All!

Yesterday, Saturday the 16th, we took the Dinghy over to Monument Beach, and hiked up to the monument... Awesome hike and unbelievable views....We hiked with a couple we met that have a border collie named Samson... What a ham!! Made us miss our puppy dogs.. Cats don't hike so well!! Ha! After reaching the monument we made our way down to the ocean side.. Can not explain how beautiful it is.... Weather is improving, Dwayne hopes to dive this upcoming week for "bugs" and we have a good source for fresh conch.. We plan on staying around this general area for awhile... The homemade fresh Bahamian bread is making me fat... it's perfect for French Toast... Yummy.....

George Town Pics (cont)

Hey there, here's a few more pics... the beach in front of us (Monument Beach) is also a daily gathering spot for all the puppies on the boats... It's a hoot to watch them each am... Made this shot from our bow....

George Town Exuma Bahamas

Hi to all! Made it to George Town on Jan. 7th.. Docked the first couple of days to re fuel, get water and do major laundry and errands....Another front was coming in so we headed for the Red Shanks, just around the corner from George Town for a couple of days...it was a beautiful, protected little spot...and back to George Town. We are now docked in front of the Monument Beach.. Good sand , great for holding.... George Town is really great. They have good markets, shops, post office, most anything you would need. The Cruising Community here is great... Everyone is very helpful and friendly... as so the locals. Weather is starting to warm up some... the locals say it is the coldest/most windy that they can remember for 20 years!

We are learning what to do and when by listening each morning to the Cruisers Net channel and by friendly "longtimers" helping out the "first timers"..They have all types of community things to do... they play volleyball almost everyday at a fun place called CHat and Chill.... yesterday, most of the ladies got together for a photo for one of the cruisers that was back home undergoing chemo for Breast Cancer... Of course I volunteerd my services . Dwayne actually took the pick so I could be in it too.... Everyone helps out in any way they can and are genuine about it!!!

Our wifi, again, is iffy and comes and goes... but hey, it's free!!!!!!!!!!!!

Catch ya later....Linda and Dwayne

P.S. seem to have "issues" with posting pics... I'll add some more when I can!

Staniel Cay to Barreterre-Rat Cay Cut

Hi to all, we left out of Staniel Cay on Wednesday Jan. 6th.. We took the inside route, less traveled route, which put us just past Barreterre Island and anchored just inside of Rat Cay.. nothing there.. but so pretty in it's isolated way! We had good sand for anchorage.. Slept well and got up this morning to party sunny skies... still cool, but not as windy... Pulled anchor up around 8:30 and had to go thru Rat Cay Cut... very narrow... but no problem for the SeaVeyor... Once we got underway in the Sound , Dwayne put out two Penn rods and we trolled as we made passage to Georgetown... Well, about 9:30, one reel made that magical sound.... FISH ON!!!

Dwayne proved that there are at least two fish in these waters... Our 10lb Wahoo and the one that chomped his tail off!!! That was exciting and fun... made our way on in via Conch Cay Cut and entered the channel into Georgetown... Very pretty ... we will be here for awhile .... need water, provisions, do laundry and other boat related chores... the pics I attached are of our sunset last nite at Ray Cay anchorage, Three sisters Rocks (looking from our stern at anchorage) Dwayne with his Wahoo and of course.. good stuff on the grill..and, me and D sitting on the Bow with jeans and jackets in the SOUTHERN WARM EXUMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HA!!

Staniel Cay continued......

Hey guys, just wanted to post some more pics from Staniel Cay...We were there from the 29th thru the 5th of Jan. The Thunderball Club was closed... we dinghyed over to the island and walked the path over to it... nothing there but a clubhouse, but it still has liquors on it's counter inside, we peeked in the windows. It's really a pretty island... most boats left after New Year's...
A front came in and we had to relocate our anchorage to the area in front of Club Thunderball,we were in front of the Thunderball . Pretty nasty winds 35-40 , but anchor held tight.. We left out on Wednesday morning, Jan. 6th and anchored close to the Rat Cay Cut... Interesting day!

New Year's Eve Staniel Cay

Good Morning to all... Hope everyone has recovered from the festivites of the Eve!

Dwayne and I explored a little bit of the town yesterday (NY Eve) We hope to hike the other side sometime today, weather permitting, etc... She is a quaint village.... stopped at the local Breadmakers house and purchased some yummy Bahamian bread... The local dive shop gave us tips on where to "possibly" find some bugs (lobsters!) Took dinghy back to SeaVeyor and I snorkled some, Dwayne read, and we both just chilled out awhile... Nice and sunny..working on those tans! We took the dinghy over to the Yacht Club and purchased tickets for their New Year's Eve dinner... It was a buffet of Pork, Turkey, and veggies, etc... not too bad...Came back to SeaVeyor and watched the fireworks from our bow!! Beautiful nite!! A good steady rain woke us around 3:30am and had to scramble to shut all hatches!! Woke up to a beautiful morning today... Not too windy, yet... Expecting West to NorthWest winds this evening up to 30mph.... We believe our anchorage will be fine.. but keeping a good watch on it and listening to radio closely....I have attached some pics of the village and of us on the bow watching the fireworks!! More news at 11...............Happy New Year
